Gathering Signatures with Raise San Jose!

What’s it like? Next Gen Organizing Committee Member Matt Savage describes:

“I got to the office at noon and got some pretty good training. We practiced the rap and went out after about an hour of training. You feel pretty prepared, like you know what you’re doing. Then you go out with a buddy. Me and Hormoz went to the Whole Foods on Blossom Hill Road and the other pairs went to grocery stores and coffee shops around San Jose. I was surprised that a bunch of people had already signed the petition and heard about raising the minimum wage. People were generally pretty friendly and enthusiastic. It was fun. We got 7 signatures in just 20 minutes. I talked to two young people that were boyfriend and girlfriend who both worked in retail. They signed the petition and said it’s awesome we’re doing this because working for a minimum wage is hard. I feel excited about the campaign and ready to go out again!”
